Rich people, especially rich people who are celebrities, political or otherwise, usually have layers of obstacles, usually called "security," to prevent members of the unwashed commoners from ambling into their living rooms.

That is what gave rise to the term "gated communities."

So far, I don't believe any part of this story, and my guess is that we will never know the real truth.
