The new standard for "serious mindedness" in a politician is to put on a serious face and describe details of what's wrong...

...without stating details of how the problem will be remedied. Somehow leaders stopped delivering leadership and people still vote for them over and over and over again.

Now Xiden is so detached from leadership, he refuses to even campaign. His spokesholes have announced that he will not participate in debates. Seriously.

How can a person claim to be a serious-minded leader while refusing to publicly discuss government policy during an election cycle !?! That has been a feature of US politics through three centuries - but suddenly this person is entitled to forego  campaigning for his job?

It's one of those fancy things I hear many times, especially with the debt crisis.

We're too deep into debt already.

Nicely stated - how truly sad...most intelligent people make a distinction between verbal behavior (speech) and overt behavior (actions).

There is an old saying about the general value of talk.

And of the magnitude of sound generated by actions relative to that of words.
