...the REAL Xiden is IMO a vicious, evil psychopath thinly disguised by his doddering persona. I think he is basically like a character out of Oh Brother Where Art Thou -a cynical, supercilious con man with no really useful ability or skills apart from those related to manipulating people and things to his own and his faction's advantage. 

I hope he dies.
