Yes, if 6 people die instead of 4 they dramatically announce "Covid-19 deaths increase by 50% in L.A. County".

And if 8 should happen to die from Wuhan Flu instead of 4, they announce that the death rate has DOUBLED. Even though a doubling of the death rate still fixed the overall risk of death from Wuhan Flu at about one-in-450,000. 

The almost-laughably minuscule numbers of deaths will be buried in the article or deleted altogether in order to purvey a sense of panic by using percentages instead. 


Another way of looking at it is that more people in L.A. County die from HIV/AIDS every month now, than from Wuhan Flu. Let that sink in for a minute. 

We have no panic about HIV/AIDS deaths - even though it is officially still a "pandemic". 

Using percentages instead of real numbers is a way to spook the herd even when the real numbers are tiny.
