Just wondering. For Canadians, what is the difference between a "progressive conservative" and a "conservative?"

Something had occurred to me that there are different types of conservatism, especially in Canada. My head spins from trying to decipher the meaning of a "progressive conservative."

I don't think mixing ideologies is such a good idea, depending on what they are.

Mixing feces with ice cream does not improve the flavor of either.

The Founding Documents including the Constitution were works of consummate brilliance. Adulterating/altering them for any reason is a misbegotten endeavor.

Seems like you can't have one of everything and stay true to your alliegance of choice.

Don't get me started with "liberal conservatism."

Most such things as "liberal conservatism" I have observed have been syncretistic*, shallow bastardizations unworthy of serious consideration.

*Syncretism  - a collection of beliefs from diverse origins generally without dogma or fundamental structure.

For instance, having a religious belief system with say...elements of several religions, rather than just one. Buddhism, Christianity and Zoroastrianism. Sort of cherry-picking beliefs without embracing any consistent, firm doctrine.
