Questionable AZ senator Sinema becoming an “Independent” isn’t going to help much

Especially when the GOP senate is full of RINOS as well. All that will do is generate needless sensationalism.

Independent in what? Allied with whom? Republicans? Libertarians?

Just because someone is independent doesn’t mean they’re on your side. Just look at socialist nightmare Bernie Sanders, who is an independent allied with the uniparty swamp (mainly the ‘Crats).

I'm just kidding so please don't take offense. I think you meant to express that it was questionable that she would be effective, not questionable that she would be INeffective.

See, one of our charter members who recently passed (our dearly-beloved Teebone/Barry Hirsh) had the role of reigning forum spelling Nazi. In his honor, I now distribute complaints to people who post things that are in some way grammatically, syntactically or punctuationally* flawed.

  * That was a joke. There is no such word as "punctuationally". I did that deliberately. It's self-contradictory, like "giant shrimp". Sorry again.

No worries! No offense happened. I mean't that someone becoming an independent politician doesn't necessarily mean they're switching sides.

No offense happened. I do have "english slip-ups" once in a while, despite my best efforts to proof-read. Shacklephones aren't the best way to write posts.

When I heard about her switching sides, I assumed many would think Kyrsten Sinema was trying to support the Republicans. I don't think that is such the case. Hence, more false optimism from speculators.

She will likely vote with the 'Crats. And even if I'm wrong, we're still doomed by the uniparty Senate.

Doomed is a strong term which may not apply.

Since gridlock means little or nothing the 'Crats try to do to the nation (notice I did not use the term "do FOR" the nation) will be DOA unless it puts too many GOP reps in hot water at home. The good thing is that the margin in the House is 218-221, so the 'Crats will not only have to hold ranks with 100% of their members (not always possible) but they also have to swing at least three GOP reps to their side. Three is better than one but not as good as ten.

The stock market's relative strength (during the usual holiday season sluggishness) speaks about this because gridlock in Congress is sometimes very good for the country economically. Or in this case, at least it's better than the Super 'Crat Majority.

Doesn’t the Senate have the power to block the House at times?

Nothing passes without both houses approving.

That's why I'm not sure what all of the fuss is about the Senate (other than committee heads). If your party is the majority in the Senate, that helps with some things, but ultimately, the result of the mid-terms will be gridlock and making Xiden a lame duck.

Xiden clearly wants to continue the Eightball Obama's tradition of expanding the power of the presidency (trying to make it an autarchy) but that is where courts and legislators will hopefully step in.

Hopefully the House will hold the line

At least some small good came out of the midterm disaster.
