I understand. My research says the network currently uses a chain of 80 AM stations, which have less problems staying on the air in widespread power-failures. | |||

Apparently FM-signal broadcasting requires a lot more power than AM to cover the same area. That's likely one reason for the Feds chose to keep it the way it is. For now.
