...and what was true decades ago sometimes does not stand the test of time.

For example, my nephew was edumacated (sic) at a modest but very good private school in the Valley through high school (because his parents were concerned that he was too sensitive to flourish at a public school in L.A.), then went to college at U.C.L.A. like his parents. He transferred to U.C. Berkeley to their engineering department looking at architecture but that was for geniuses only apparently. My nephew is brighter than most, but not a genius. So, he switched majors early on. BTW, the STEM part of Berkeley has nothing to do with the non-technical side. The engineering, math, medical and hard sciences are a totally separate entities re the curriculum - no kooky Marxist professors, only serious meritocracy rules the roost. He eventually got an engineering degree but then went to law school because he wanted to join up with his mom's law firm (she is one of the partners). Now he is on track to becoming a judge someday if he wants, because he knows so much about engineering/computers, he can do complex patent-law cases, etc.

Strangely enough, he had a roommate at the dorm who turned out to be a successful actor - Chris Pine (young Kirk from Star Trek movies) was bright enough to go to Berkeley, but then went into acting (probably because it was less work and more-lucrative than his primary focus).

Both my nephew's parents (my brother included) are fairly conservative people who believe in meritocracy and capitalism. They are thankfully good examples of Democrats who will NEVER accept having radical revolutionary socialism rammed down their throats. They will quietly vote for someone else.

They HATE Xiden with a passion and did not vote for him in the last election.
