McConnell is more like a machine than a human being - which may be deliberate. He is entrenched in his state because as a senior leader, he has a lot of power to benefit his own state and the voters know that. He walks a line between loyalty to his presidents, loyalty to his political party and loyalty to strategy/ideology. He sensed DJT's vulnerability as a political creature and played the long game. |
