CT: Fiery rhetoric ahead of Killingly council passing Second Amendment support resolution

Submitted by:">Mark A. Taff

By a strict party-line majority vote, the Killingly Town Council this week passed a non-binding resolution affirming its support of the Second Amendment – a right which some members of the heavily Republican body forcefully declared was under attack by a “far-left agenda.”

Much of the fiery hour-long special meeting on Tuesday was taken up by comments from councilors and the public on the resolution, a document which referenced several U.S. Supreme Court cases, along with excerpts from the state and federal constitutions.

"[T]he Second Amendment is still 'unsettled law[.]'

It most certainly IS settled law, to the extent that the SC has established once and for all that it protects a core individual, fundamental right to keep and bear arms and to use them for lawful purposes. That many lower courts have ignored the Heller and McDonald rulings doesn't change that fact. The reason that there are cases still in the pipeline for certiorari is because leftist courts are generating them, blatantly ignoring the high Court's rulings and standards of review pertaining to the Second Amendment.

The only place it is 'unsettled' is inside your cranium. Out here in the real world of facts and logic, things are quite different.

Liberty is paramount. Government is an afterthought.

Democrats wouldn't buy a clue if it was government subsidized.

Liberals are people who stand on their heads and insist that the world is upside-down.
