This is as I recall it from the book and is roughly paraphrased.
Dagny was talking to Dr, Hugh Akston, an eminent philosopher who was now working as a cook in a diner. He said he had retired from his previous profession.
When famous people retire, everybody seems to notice. Why is it that nobody notices when philosophers retire?
Dr. Akston replied,
"Eventually they do."
That is how I feel about Sowell and Williams. Eventually their absence will have effects, but nobody will make the connection.
