Going highly negative is always a risky move politically.
Undecided voters often perceive extremely negative campaigning as a sign of weakness.
The 'Crats went extreme negative from the day after the election, which is desperation politics at it's worst.
The 'Crats have bet everything on the idea that undecided voters will believe what they SAY about events rather than drawing their own conclusions. Betting that one is so much .smarter than the people whose votes you want has a long, tired, flaccid tradition of failure.
If ever there was an example of "jumping for the Great Sky Hook" which either lifts you to heaven or impales you on the tip, this is surely one of the best.
