Rifles buried vertically with a large rock over it will appear to be a rock from above. Ground radar can only see straight down, not from the side.
I for instance, live in what used to be a riverbed. There are countless large rocks in layers across every square foot of ground on my lot. If I were to bury a rifle straight down and cover it with a large rock, all the radar would see is a bunch of large rocks. Whatever is underneath those rocks would remain undetectable from an above-ground scan with radar equipment.
