Saturday on the streets of Nashville, a group held a response to the gun control marches seen across the country in March, including right here at home. This time, those taking a stand were people worried that this country's second amendment could soon be curtailed.

Approximately 300 people gathered at the Oregon World War II Memorial near the Oregon State Capitol for a pro-second amendment rally Saturday morning, as part of a nationwide effort organized by The National Constitutional Coalition of Patriotic Americans. The rally comes just weeks after the nationwide March for Our Lives protest, where students, teachers and community members took to the streets demanding stricter gun laws to combat gun violence. More than 3,000 people attended the Salem event on March 24.

Amid national calls for stricter gun control in the wake of school shootings, about 200 people gathered locally at the Americans for America rally, hoping to show there are those on the other side of the issue. "I'd like people to know Second Amendment rights are important to many people," said Robert Gregoire, of Bismarck.

Gun rights advocates rallied at the state capitol Saturday. This was one of many rallies held across the country. Supporters were encouraged to bring unloaded firearms, but only in states where it was legal. “I think it is important the American people should retain the right to self-defense,” said Columbus Resident Danny Bedwell. The rain didn't stop more than three dozen gun advocates from trekking to the State Capitol to defend the Second Amendment.
