Original Message:   Just FYI - Neil Armstrong's first words on the moon were, "That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for Mankind".
He really DID say the word "a" before "man". The audio-feed from the surface was interrupted by signal glitches (where Earth-station reception cuts momentarily, causing gaps in the sound). There was another one in that same statement (other than erasing the word "a") where the letter "g" in "giant" is erased making it "-iant".

It's one of my pet  peeves that for so long, mass media and even some inferior history books (!!!) did not correct the error. So the one history recorded was the INCORRECT version, "That's one small step for (*) man. One (*)iant leap for Mankind". Give me a break. Just quote the phrase as the guy actually SAID IT!!!
