Dee, I paid 18 years of child support for a teenage misadventure. I never denied responsibility nor declined to recognize him as my son. (He bears my name.) He and I were always, and still are, very close. My Wife and I tried to get custody, but his bio-mom always refused because it would affect her welfare check. (I even promised to make up for the welfare check, but she didn't buy it.) The plus side: I have two wonderful granddaughters and a few great grandkids.
