Despite the bad events happening around Washington State (and Seattle too), there is a rather underrated part of the state that deserves exploration on your free time. I took an opportunity to head back to my home state on my vacation, and was reminded of how nice the forest scenery is. If you end up visiting Washington State, two places you might consider are Northwest Trek (essentially a wildlife zoo) or Mt. Rainier park. Of course, there are plenty of other places too. I would suggest visiting either in late spring, or summer when the weather improves (more sunshine).
