It provides protection but only if the Rule of Law supersedes the power of mobs to wage political war to neutralize it. When John "Robot" Roberts codified "slacktivism" as the new credo of the High Court in the odious, corrupt ACA (Obamacare) decision (bringing it into alignment with Swedish precedent, not U.S. precedent) the starting pistol was fired. at that point the race to trample the Bill of Rights by powerful anti-conservative fanatics in law/government and other lunatics began.
