It has been even more amusing that Musk chose to do this at the same time it was announced that he is officially the richest man in the world (he has more than Bezos, Gates or any Arab oil baron).
'Crats are easily impressed with "credentials" such as academic titles, government authority, extravagant wealth. When a very wealthy person doesn't buy into the Marxist radical revolutionary socialist BS, it shakes them to their core.
