July 8, 2004
-- In a move that took the New York Times and Dan Rather by surprise, President George Bush and Democrat hopeful, John Kerry in a joint announcement today said, "America's real reason for the invasion of Iraq was to make it the 51st state in the union".

"It reminds me so much of Texas," said Mr. Bush, "all that oil, that parched land and those brown-skinned foreigners everywhere. Well, it just didn't seem right that it's not a USA state."

Democrat presidential candidate, John Kerry, in a rare moment of agreement with the administration,
said he was thrilled that President Bush will bring Iraq under the U.S. umbrella of cultural and political hegemony.

Of course, the people of the new and free Iraq will have to approve a resolution to join the union, said Mr. Bush,
"But when they find out all the entitlement programs they'll qualify for, I'm sure the vote will go our way."

Story developing.
