Democrat Convention Credentials Internet Bloggers

By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Washington DC June 2004 (AP) -- A handful of scribes publishing in a newer medium will join the thousands of newspaper, magazine and broadcast journalists at this summer's political conventions. They'll be blogging.

The Democrats are holding true to their ``party of inclusion'' billing vis-à-vis the online chroniclers, whose Web logs have leapt in popularity this year as political junkies increasingly get their fix with mouse clicks. Democrats say they'll offer media credentials to a handful of bloggers…..

How much influence bloggers might have remains to be seen….

Saddam Hussein Wants to Become a Democrat Convention Blogger

 By The ASSORTED PRESS

Somewhere in Iraq, July 2, 2004 (TAP)
– Saddam Hussein, who claims he is still the president of Iraq and that President Bush is the real war criminal, launched his own political forum and web log today from his jail cell somewhere in Iraq.

Mr. Hussein said after reading an Associated Press story that said bloggers would be reporting on this summer’s political conventions that he wanted to contribute his own impressions and ideas on how to help John Kerry and to defeat “big-government” President Bush.

"I'm just getting my feet wet in this blogging thing," he wrote in his first post at KissThe ArmPit.com. "Have you seen those political wizards at the (name withheld) forum yet? Osama Bin Laden turned me on to them. I hope to someday get half as many posters and readers as those folks – some of them sure got the goods on war-criminal and big time spender Bush."

Mr. Hussein's new site, approved by the Red Cross, includes a comment feature, and cute little animated icons to indicate the former dictator's mood at the moment. Under his first post the icon indicated "Saddam is feeling: Cornered."

A "tip jar" on the right side of the home page allows KisstheArmpit.blogspot.com readers to make donations to Saddam Hussein through Pay Pal.

"I am hoping to get enough money to register my domain name www.kissthearmpit.com," he wrote. "And I would also like to purchase a goat with a cute face; I’m getting very lonely in here."
