General Anthony Zinni Inks Deal As TV News Analyst

June 1, 2004 (TAP) – Retired Marine General Anthony Zinni announced a six-figure deal with an so far unnamed TV NEWS channel to critique U.S. military operations.

"Until this deal," said Gen. Zinni, "I thought Coalition forces did a great job executing our flexible battle plan in Iraq. However, since signing this TV contract it seems to me that the war strategy was deeply flawed and mismanaged."

Gen. Zinni would not disclose details of his contract with the cable news network except to say, "Their generous offer made me realize the value of retired critics to the defense of freedom."

The General said that since writing his book with Tom Clancy he has already begun to have a better understanding of what really happened in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The White House informed the Assorted Press that General Anthony Zinni, who quit in a snit over Iraq, has been a vocal opponent of the Bush administration for so long now that his criticisms are old news.
